Please use the S-Bahn (metro rail) line S1 to get to the airport. Due to the arrival of G20 participants, there may be major delays in travel to the airport. The S1 S-Bahn (metro rail) line operates every 10 minutes at peak hour between Hamburg Airport and the central Hauptbahnhof station, continuing to Altona/Blankenese, and back to the airport. The journey time between the airport and downtown Hamburg is approx. 25 minutes. In addition to normal scheduled services, the service has been extended late into the night, so that the last service from Hamburg Airport is at 1:33 a.m. instead of 12:13 a.m., on 7, 8 and 9 July. The S1 S-Bahn line at this time is then operating every 20 minutes to the central Hauptbahnhof station and Altona. On 7, 8 and 9 July there are also extra early services from Altona to Hamburg Airport, departing at 3:11 a.m. and 3:31 a.m. These trains reach the airport at 3:49 a.m. and 4:09 a.m. respectively. Scheduled flight operations will continue during the G20 summit. During the peak arrival and departure times for state and government aircraft, however, delays to scheduled flights cannot be ruled out.
