From March 2016: Hamburg Airport renewing main apron

07.12.2015 Hamburg Airport is planning the comprehensive renewal of the main apron (Apron 1), with a total surface area of 330,000 square metres. The work is planned for the period 2016–2020. The investment of around 120 million euros is necessary because the concrete surfaces are now between 40 and 60 years old, and their usability will come to an end in the foreseeable future.

United Airlines expands seating capacity to and from Hamburg Airport

23.10.2015 The new winter timetable comes into effect at Hamburg Airport on 25 October, 2015. It is valid until 26 March, 2016. Around 60 airlines fly to 120 destinations. On average, they carry 38,500 passengers per day to and from Hamburg in the winter - around 270,000 passengers every week.

02.10.2015 Hamburg Airport is getting ready for the future of airfreight with the Hamburg Airport Cargo Center (HACC). This morning, 180 guests celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the approximately 50-million euro construction project. The modern buildings and facilities on Weg beim Jaeger will replace the existing 1960s Air Cargo Center, ensuring optimal airfreight processing and handling in Hamburg.

Hamburg Airport launches "Donate Your Deposit" campaign

01.09.2015 Several hundred returnable deposit bottles end up in the rubbish at Hamburg Airport every day. They are thrown away throughout the terminals, but especially at the security checkpoints because passengers are not allowed to take them on board the aircraft. Hamburg Airport has now installed six transparent containers in the terminals, allowing passengers to donate their deposit bottles.
