The trade union ver.di has called on airport security checkpoint employees to strike again on Thursday, 14 March 2024 - Hamburg Airport is also affected. The central security checkpoint will have to remain closed all day on Thursday due to the ver.di strike. For this reason, all 141 departures on Thursday will be cancelled or will take place without passengers. Flight cancellations and delays are also to be expected for arrivals. Arrivals will still be possible on Thursday. Nevertheless, there may also be flight cancellations and significant delays to arrivals at Hamburg Airport throughout the day due to the ver.di strike.
All passengers affected by cancellations are asked to contact their airline and not to come to the airport. The hotlines of the respective airlines (Airlines - Hamburg Airport (hamburg-airport.de)) or the tour operators are available to answer questions about cancellations and rebookings. There will be no departures from Hamburg on Thursday. All airlines have been informed and are currently revising their flight schedules. There may be delays in the display of cancelled flights in the airline information and flight schedules.
At Hamburg Airport, 286 flights (141 departures and 145 arrivals) with a total of around 40,000 passengers were originally planned for Thursday, 14 March 2024.
In order to compensate for the cancelled flights, numerous rebookings to Friday, 15 March 2024, and the following days are to be expected. The flights will be heavily utilised.
