Hamburg Aviation Conference 2017

Always connected: opportunities for aviation

06.02.2017 -

Taking out your smartphone to book your flight, review the accommodation, cash in on a discount in the airport shop and then share some holiday snaps with your friends – this is everyday behaviour nowadays. The phenomenon is known as hyperconnectivity. At this year’s Hamburg Aviation Conference, experts and participants will be talking about the opportunities for the aviation industry presented by digital trends. The international conference is taking place on 8 and 9 February, 2017, at the Ameron Hotel Speicherstadt. The theme for this year’s conference is “Aviation and travel in the age of the hyper-connected consumer”.

Over 200 experts, business leaders and interested parties from 29 nations are gathering in Hamburg to discuss new approaches that could benefit the aviation industry, from communication via Chatbot to joint marketing of travel destinations, and to explore the impact of hyperconnectivity on booking systems. Over the years, the Hamburg Aviation Conference has established itself as a think tank for the aviation industry, a place where airport and airline representatives come together with innovative thinkers from the widest range of economic sectors.

Amongst the high-ranking aviation managers in attendance this year: Patrick Murphy, former Chairman of the Board at Ryanair and now Chief Advisor to Japan’s Peach Airlines; Harry Drok, Head of E-Commerce at Wizz Air; Oliver Wagner, COO at Eurowings; and Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO of Hamburg Airport. Other attendees this year include: Timon Bock from the internationally active limousine service Blacklane, and Lewis Holland, Founder and CEO of DiscountIF, a company that is demonstrating new approaches to digital marketing.

About the Hamburg Aviation Conference:
The Hamburg Aviation Conference was launched by Hamburg Airport in 1998. It is now organised by XXL Solutions, an international consulting company for the aviation and travel sector, and it has become an established annual think tank. This year, it will be held in the Ameron Hotel Speicherstadt for the first time. The conference is taking place on 8 and 9 February, 2017.
